PORTOBELO

Probably named by Christopher Columbus as “Puerto Bello” in 1502, Portobelo became the main point for the trade of Spanish ships between Europe and Central and South America, which were loaded with the gold of the Incas and Aztecs after these Treasures will cross the Isthmus from the Pacific Coast. Because of this, Portobelo became the target of pirate attacks like Sir Francis Drake. Portobelo has a rich culture, as it is home to the culture of Congo, in the past slaves were traded here. EMBERÁ TRIBE

One of our favorite experiences to share with you is to visit the Embera people aboard a canoe (typical local canoe) led by an embera. Live an experience to embrace this culture.

Immerse yourself in ritual dances, local music, shaman knowledge, crafts, medicinal plants. These will be some of the new discoveries that the Embera will share with you. Stroll through the city to experience your lifestyle firsthand. Learn how they cook the typical embera lunch you will enjoy.
